Business Model Canvas (Havrutah Alternative)

May 5, 2022

Course Description

About This Course

Note: this course was originally developed as one of three Innovation courses which were required at PRS. With the founding of the Innovation & Synagogue Engagement Program, it is now one of several options, but is no longer a required course on its own.

This havrutah is an alternative to the Innovation Program’s asynchronous Business Model Canvas (BMC) course. In this havrutah, you will learn directly, one-on-one with Rabbi Patrick, who will teach you everything from this course in only six, one-hour sessions.

You may take a combination of havrutah and traditional courses in the Innovation & Synagogue Engagement Program, so long as they are not the same course (for example, taking both Business Model Canvas AND Business Model Canvas Havrutah).

While free mentoring is included in the Innovation & Synagogue Engagement Program, students may choose this premium, one-on-one alternative for many reasons:

  • It allows you to move through the BMC course faster
  • It prevents you from being stuck at the last minute trying to “get through it”
  • Some students prefer a live format to an asynchronous learning format
  • Provides much needed structure to a student’s learning

This course is one credit toward fulfilling the Innovation and Synagogue Engagement requirement.

Course Objectives

In this course we’ll begin innovating using the Business Model Canvas. An alternative to a linear business plan, this tool to help you visualize your idea as a series of moving units that can be optimized over time.

You will show progress by putting together you business model canvas with Rabbi Patrick, who will teach you a few elements at a time in the one-on-one sessions.

Learning Verification Method

You will have a completed Business Model Canvas by the end of the last session. Rabbi Patrick will mark your Business Model Canvas course completed in the Innovation Program.

Note: your educator will need to fill out this form below for you. Please provide it to them if they do not already have it.
