Business Model Canvas

December 1, 2019

About This Course

Update (November 25, 2025): Please reach out to Rabbi Patrick Beaulier in Slack before beginning this course.

The focus of the Innovation Program is to help you create your great Jewish non-profit, product, business, or whatever you believe is the next “game-changing” resource for the Jewish world. We like to think that PRS is one of those resources, too. To that end, you will need to learn how to take your “idea” and put it on paper in a way that meaningfully represents the many elements that go into running a for-profit or non-profit organization.

Course Objectives

In this course, we’ll begin innovating using the Business Model Canvas. An alternative to a linear business plan, this tool helps you visualize your idea as a series of moving units that can be optimized over time.

You’ll show progress in this course by slowly putting together your business model canvas, a few elements at a time. You’ll upload the business canvas as homework at a few points along this course. Please do not fill out the entire canvas, then submit it. The goal is to show progress over time and refine the canvas as you go.

Foundational education to build a venture

As an entrepreneur for the past 20 years with no formal education building on gut instinct, it was good to gain this knowledge and work methodically through the Business Model Canvas.
