Prerequisite: students must complete all previous Innovation units (1-3) before taking this final course.
The best way to get the most out of this unit is to schedule mentorship time. Need help with a canvas? Need someone to look over your budget? No video or handout will help. Please schedule time with Rabbi Patrick for support.
- Speech – A final five minute speech (written, video or audio) that “sells” your organization to someone who will pay you for your product or service. Please also include separately a “bio” about who this person might be so that we have a sense of who that audience is, what they value, etc.
- Spiritual Action Plan – a paper that answers the question “how will I design my rabbinate to best mitigate the following spiritual issues I will inevitably face?” Please explore each theme:
- Setting Realistic Expectations of Myself, Others & My Organization
- Improving My Communication Skills, As Well As Handling Criticism and Conflict
- Imposter Syndrome
- Accounting For Spiritual Dryness
- Making My Family and Intimate Relationships A Priority
- Coping With Emotions: Uncertainty and Insecurity, Stress, Depression, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout
- Setting Patterns Of Behavior To Handle Financial Stress
- Cultivating Self Discipline & Time Management
While the speech is something you should be able to do by Clergypreneur, the Spiritual Autobiography is only possible through mentoring and coming to the Innovation salons. In past units there were recordings. In this unit, live participation matters. I will be “lovingly tough” on your action plans, because this is what will translate your rabbinate from hypothetical to realistic, and from realistic to real.
This course is one credit.
