Prerequisite: students must complete all previous Innovation units (1-4) before taking this final course.
In this final, two part course for the Innovation Program, you will pull together all of the learning you have done in units I – V and submit the fruits of your labor as a launch of your innovation.
Unlike the past four units, there will be no readings, videos, podcasts or assignments other than submitting the elements of your project, which collectively is a portfolio.
The best way to get the most out of this unit is to schedule mentorship time. Need help with a canvas? Need someone to look over your budget? No video or handout will help. Please schedule time with Rabbi Patrick for support.
You’ll find the submissions below. We have labeled each subject a “lesson” and your assignment a “reflection”.
Part I
- Business Model Canvas – an updated Business Model Canvas using the canvas format (not a paper or a design of your own creation)
- Pitch deck – presentation that answers the following questions:
- The problem you want to solve
- Who your market is and how they currently solve this problem for themselves
- How your project solves the problem in a way that is better (better can mean more profitable, more inclusive, or any other value)
- How you will structure your organization or project
- Relationships with customers, partners and team members
- Sales channels
- Marketing channels
- What will be the sales, cost structure and revenue streams for your organization
- Who is involved in the project (team)
- A basic outline of a budget
- A timeline for launch of your project “in real life” and any milestones you hope to reach
- An “ask” for your audience. Example: funding, promotional support, sales, etc.
- Anything else you feel appropriate
- Financial Plan – an updated spreadsheet with a three year financial plan
- Marketing Portfolio – an electronic marketing portfolio showing content you intend to use to promote your organization and generate value (customers, users, partners, etc.) This should include your website and social media
- Legal Filing – the legal paperwork to file your organization
Part II – Next Unit
- Speech – A final five minute speech (written, video or audio) that “sells” your organization to someone who will pay you for your product or service. Please also include separately a “bio” about who this person might be so that we have a sense of who that audience is, what they value, etc.
- Spiritual Autobiography – a paper that answers the question “how will I design my rabbinate to best mitigate the following spiritual issues I will inevitably face?”
- Setting Realistic Expectations of Myself, Others & My Organization
- Improving My Communication Skills, As Well As Handling Criticism and Conflict
- Accounting For Spiritual Dryness
- Making My Family and Intimate Relationships A Priority
- Coping With Emotions: Uncertainty and Insecurity, Stress, Depression, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout
- Setting Patters Of Behavior To Handle Financial Stress
- Cultivating Self Discipline & Time Management
I cannot thank you enough for being part of PRS. I am very excited about seeing your finished portfolio of work.
Warmly, -Rabbi Patrick Beaulier
